Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC), the country’s first leadership institute, exists to build connections among youth from diverse backgrounds, equip them with leadership skills, and enable them to have high impact in public, private, and civil sectors. BYLC also believes that good health is key to achieving high performance in any field. Therefore, to promote good health, fitness, and positivity among the young generation, BYLC is organizing the ‘Running with Purpose’ event in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The 5k run on August 3, 2018, is being hosted to observe this year’s UN International Youth Day’s theme—Safe Spaces for Youth. By bringing hundreds of youth and adults together to run through part of the city, we hope to draw attention to youth’s need for safe spaces—physical as well as intellectual—where they are able to engage in sports and physical activities, participate in decision making processes, and express themselves freely.
