Building Bridges through Leadership Training Junior (BBTL-J) is a program of BYLC, a registered non-partisan and non-profit organization in Bangladesh. BYLC is the first leadership training center in Bangladesh founded with the vision of creating a more tolerant, inclusive and just society by training the next generation of home-grown leaders. The BBLT-J program has the same objectives as the regular BBLT program but it is shorter in duration and designed for secondary school students. The program aims to train young people and equip them with necessary communication and leadership skills to bring about positive change in society.

Top BBLT graduates will work with BYLC mentors to organize a month-long after-school program for 42 grade 7-10 students from diverse socio-economic and educational backgrounds in Chittagong. The BBLT-J training on leadership will also instill in students a sense of patriotism, civic duty and an understanding of social justice and tolerance. BBLT-J trains and develops skills in:

The unique BBLT-J curriculum is designed to develop a new generation of creative, compassionate and competent young leaders in Bangladesh. To make this international award-winning program available to everyone, a full scholarship will be granted to all accepted participants by the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka. After completing the program, participants will be awarded achievement certificates in a graduation ceremony as a recognition of their hard work.
Organizer: Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC) was originally founded in January 2008 in Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government in USA. It is now a registered non-profit organization in Bangladesh under the Societies Act of 1860.
Instructors & Facilitators: BYLC graduates, trained by Ejaj Ahmad, Master in Public Policy, Harvard University (USA); MA Economics, University of St. Andrews (Scotland). He has extensive experience in leadership development and previously worked as consultant in different projects of World Bank, UNDP, and Bangladesh Government.

Place & Date: Chittagong, Bangladesh; January 7, 2012 - February 7, 2012. Time: 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm, 5 days a week, Sun - Thurs.
Tuition: Full scholarship provided by U.S. Embassy in Dhaka.
Miscellaneous: Program is co-ed. Program participants will be divided into groups of six and each group will have their own mentor. The mentor will be with the group at all times to ensure its proper education and safety.
Students in class 7-10 are eligible for the program. All interested applicants must complete the application form and have it signed by their parents or official guardian. Both the applicant and his/her family should be aware that the program requires a high level of time-commitment and punctuality. All participants will be required to fulfill the time requirement for the program. After the initial screening process there will be an interview with the shortlisted applicants and their parents/guardians for the final selection of BBLT Junior participants.
